Elementary Visual Arts
Students explore art through designing 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional works. The projects assigned allow students to display their creativity through the use of different techniques and varying media. Art is offered twice in a six-day cycle and art activities are incorporated into other subjects.
The Art curriculum teaches the use of form in sculpture projects. Kindergarten-3rd grade students use Model Magic, paper mache and air-dry clay for sculpture projects. 4th- 6th graders use ceramic clay, recycled materials and Zany wire. Two-dimensional projects include printmaking, tempra and acrylic painting, collage, watercolor paintings, and drawings with crayons, colored and graphite pencils. An
Art Show in May displays at least one work from each student. All students take a tour of the Art Show during the school day and parents are invited to view the show.
