Todd Yokotake
Class of 1984 & HBA Choral Director

I enrolled at HBA as a third grader in 1974. In seventh grade, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior following a chapel at Christian Emphasis Week. Some of my best memories of high school include being Student Council president, and being one of the first students to use the gymnasium that was funded by the MAC.

I returned to HBA in 1990 to begin teaching. Going to HBA was such a positive experience for me, I knew that I wanted to recreate and give back to the students many of the things that I had experienced and received as a student.

In 1991, a group of students approached me to start a music ministry called the Soldiers of Light. Our first performance was at MAC Week. Since then, our ministry has grown and the group now has 27 members and a halau. Additionally, I’m blessed to direct the middle school and high school concert choirs.

Both of my children now attend HBA. I am thankful that they are able to attend this school, where they will have Biblical values instilled in them forever, and they will be encouraged by their teachers to use their talents to serve Jesus Christ.
