Students explore art through designing 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional works. Students learn the use of form in sculpture projects. Two-dimensional projects include acrylic painting, collage, drawings with crayons, colored and graphite pencils, water color paintings and sumi brush paintings.
Note: Students in Kindergarten-3rd grade will have Music in the 1st semester and Art in the 2nd semester. 4th-6th grade students will have Art in the 1st semester and Music in the 2nd semester.
In 7th and 8th grade, students are required to take an introductory semester-long course that explores a variety of arts forms, including visual art. Students study works of art and learn to appreciate a variety of art forms, evaluate their own art and the works of other artists. Individual growth and freedom of expression are encouraged.
High school students have the opportunity to take a variety of visual art electives, including drawing, painting, pottery, mixed media, Photoshop, digital filmmaking and photography, drafting and design, textile design and much more! Students’ skills and talents in these disciplines are honed and inspired at the high school’s brand new Arts & Science Building.
